Stage 2

"Helen is fascinated by the concept of evolution. Her work is created by repeating, copying and combining images, using a variety of materials and techniques in novel and unselfconscious ways.

She is attempting to illustrate the nature of being, whilst exploring and recording the changes which occur during creation. Much of her work contains precious scraps carefully set aside from the making of previous pieces, so maintaining a physical and hereditary link."

OPEN STUDIOS 2011
Discover printmakers, blacksmiths and stonecarvers whilst exploring the scenic delights of North Yorkshire this June when over 120 artists will open up their studios to the public as part of the North Yorkshire Open Studios.

With studios located across the rural county of North Yorkshire, praised for its rugged scenery, breathtaking landscapes, dramatic coastline and historic heritage, this is the perfect opportunity to meet some of fantastic contemporary artists and craftspeople who have decided to make this beautiful region their home.

This popular free event runs across two weekends in June, Fri-Sun 10/11/12 & Sat-Sun 18/19. Much of the adventure lies in tracking down the studios using the helpful maps and guides which are available free from the organisers or online at http://www.nyos.org.uk. Discover a host of interesting studio spaces housed in cottages and barns, racing stables, station waiting rooms and suburban living rooms…

Participating artists are carefully selected resulting in a stunning selection of artwork and contemporary crafts and with over 120 participating artists and designers there is plenty to be inspired by.

The event’s website, www.nyos.org.uk, showcases each artist and features useful interactive maps which will help visitors to plan their route. A free event guide is also available from the organisers, Art Connections tel 01756 748529 or email: info@art-connections.org.uk

The helpful event guide also contains lots of great ideas on where to eat, stay and visit – all provided by the artists themselves, as well details on how to get to studios and leave your car at home!
