TIME & TIDE: an exhibition for Scarborough

Stephen Joseph Theatre
Westborough
Scarborough

This new body of work incorporates images and poems relating to Scarborough’s unique character, suggesting both a reflection of the past and a glimpse into the future. The hard edges of past events have been softened into memory, made round by the forces of nature. Fragments of history have been captured. Today’s footprints will become tomorrow’s fossil remains.

I hope this exhibition will be seen as an affectionate portrayal of a town through the eyes of a newcomer.

Each piece is a compilation of 25 postcard sized mixed media artworks which look at key areas of the town's history and local attractions. I have included words inspired by the process of making these images and hope that they help to shed light on the artistic intention behind my work.

Click on an image below for a larger picture and the POEM which relates to the piece of artwork. I have also included a brief HISTORICAL BACKGROUND to the theme of each piece.
